The LMI exists to foster an environment for furthering medical and health education and knowledge, relevant to all who work in the field of health care. There are various membership categories to choose from, dependent on your profession and career stage (see below).

Categories Of Membership

  • Medical Student AffiliateshipFree of charge for anyone who is currently undertaking a medical degree at the University of Liverpool, and £10/year thereafter if you decide to continue with your membership for the duration of your studies

  • Full Membership: £165 per year, for registered medical and dental practitioners who have completed their training

  • Joint Membership: £252 per year, joint membership for member and spouse

  • Doctor in Training Membership: £33 per year, discounted membership for junior doctors and doctors in training

  • SAS and Clinical Specialist Membership: £53 per year, discounted membership for SAS Grades and clinical specialists

  • Country Membership: £70 per year, for medical professionals living and working more than 10 miles from the LMI

  • Retired Membership: for medical professionals over the age of 65 and retired. There are two retired categories: Category A5 - for those who have been a member of the LMI for 10 years or more, annual rate - £44; Category A5a - for those who have not been a member of the LMI for 10 years or more, annual rate - £95 (pro rata rate applies for part year)

  • Affiliateship: £39 per year, open to qualified Nurses and Allied Health Professionals
